The 72-hour go-bag checklist.

One page, in priority order. The exact categories our catalog is built around.

What's in the bag

  1. Water: purifier plus backup filter. One gallon per person per day is the planning figure; purification multiplies every source.
  2. Food: 3 days of no-cook calories per person. Energy bars, then a real emergency food kit at home.
  3. Shelter/warmth: emergency bivvy, warm layer, rain shell. Exposure is the fast killer.
  4. Power: power station or big battery bank, cables, headlamp plus handheld light.
  5. Comms: weather radio with hand crank. Phone dies; information shouldn't.
  6. Carry: the bag itself, packed and by the door. A kit in the closet is a wish.
  7. Tools: multitool, duct tape, paracord, fire starter.
  8. First aid: trauma kit basics: tourniquet, pressure bandage, gloves.
  9. Documents: copies of IDs, insurance, contacts, in a waterproof pouch.
  10. Cash: small bills. Card readers need power.
